Sessions

What happens in a session with children?

We begin working with new families by meeting with Parents to gain insight and understanding about their reasons for visiting the practice.

The child’s trust is nurtured and developed through ‘evidence based’ approaches, including activities with balls and toys, games and drawing. Best Practices combined with information from parents, help us discover the child’s preferred way to express themselves. As we approach each child individually, we establish clear goals for our intervention.

As sessions progress, more individual time is spent with the child, parents are encouraged to book whole sessions for themselves if they wish to discuss their child’s progress. At Redstone Psychology we endeavour to help both children and parents develop new ways of responding to the challenges they face.

What happens in a session with adults?

We begin by hearing about what has brought you to the session. This can be any number of reasons and may take some time. We carefully listen and combine evidence based practice, with the skills we have developed over our careers, and your individual preferences to create an environment and plan that suits your needs.

What happens in a session with adolescents?

Because adolescence is a transition between childhood and adulthood, there will be some combination of what happens in sessions with children and sessions with adults depending on the needs of the adolescent and their family. We work hard to create a warm, safe and, at times, fun place for adolescents to be.
